My pet hate is when people use the term fruity to mean residual sugar. As you say, two unconnected things.

The rosé I used to make in the Languedoc was frequently 0.0g/l residual glucose/fructose (the yeast-fermentable sugars). I'd still get complaints, especially from the French, that it was too sweet! And it wasn't because of alcohol as it was usually 12 - 12.5%.
